5. How Training and development programs make impact to organizations
What is Training and Development?

Training and development can be described as a
structured efforts which is used to enhance job performance and promote
personal and professional growth by focusing on increasing the employees'
knowledge, skills, and talents (Bashir
& Jahanzeb, 2013). In other words, these programs are not only
the knowledge-sharing based; It's also about guiding employees to the path of
that, they are valued and the growth within the organization is achievable one
(Jennifer Herrity, 2024). When the opportunities are not visible to the
employees, they don't bring their fullest potential to work (Claire Hastwell,
2023). Training and development programs can be offered to the employees as
traditional classroom training, on-the-job training opportunities, coaching,
mentoring, and other growth activities which are customized to individual and
organizational requirements.
The Way it Impacts to The Organizations:
To being growth and to become success in an organizations, training and
development program can be impacted in many ways, also it can be used as a strategic
investment which is provide values and benefits to the organization while
benefiting employees themselves (Mahaluba
U.R., 2023).
Here are some key identified factors that can be gained from training
and development programmes which can cause an impact to the organization:
Improve the employee skills: Employees
can gain new skills also they can improve themselves with the skills which are they
already practise through the training programs. Even though it's technical
skills which is relevant to their job tasks or a soft skills like communication
and leadership, by practising set of skills, enable them to do their jobs more
successfully. This will ensure the organization is focused on their future
business goals by preparing unique skill full talent (Jennifer Herrity, 2024).
Increase productivity: Employees who have received effective training are more likely to be productive. By minimizing the mistakes happen, they tend to work more efficiently and can do the job be done sooner than usual (Vivianna Saldanha,2021). By increasing the employee productivity, its leads to better production and performance in the organization (Energage, 2023).
Make employee
engagement and retention:
Investing in training and development expose motivation for
employees to improve themselves. It promotes a culture of continual learning
and growth, which has significant effects on employee engagement and retention.
Engaged employees are more likely to stay with the company while they are
seeking growth and they want them to be challenged (Claire Hastwell, 2023), it
will lead low turnover costs and preserving continuity (OU Online, 2021).
Adaptability
and innovation: To
stay competitive in rapidly changing and evolving sectors, organization must be
adaptable and creative. Employees get benefits from training and development programs
that keep them up to date on industry trends, technology advances, and best
practices. This allows them to adjust correctly into changes and generate their
distinctive ideas that contribute to organizational growth and success (Mahaluba
U.R., 2023).
Improve
quality and gain customer satisfaction: Employees that have been properly educated
provide higher-quality products and services, which will increase consumer
satisfaction (Seismic, 2024). Employees who get training that focuses on
quality standards, customer service skills, and problem-solving abilities are
better able to meet and exceed customer requirements, so it will lead to improve
the organization's reputation and will gradually increase customer loyalty (Energage,
2023).
Cost savings
and efficiency: While
training programs involve an early investment, they can result in long-term
cost savings and increased productivity. Well-trained staff are significantly
fewer cost mistakes makers, require less supervision (Energage, 2023), and
can often notice more effective methods to complete jobs, resulting in lower
operating expenses and enhanced bottom-line performance (Jerry Shaw, 2019).
Examples of Companies with Training and
Development Programs:
The Sampath bank PLC, has two-way approaches to training and
development, which is all the employees have an equal chance to gain from the
training directly related to their job roles and, they have gained from
additional skill creating activities to support their personal career (Sampath
bank PLC, 2023). In Brandix, each and all employees are required to go
through a training relevant to their job function as well as in house training
in areas like decision-making and leadership. When taken as a whole, this helps
create new leaders and create smooth management transition in all the level of
the organization (Brandix,2024).
Ceylon Cold Stores has created the company environment to make equal opportunities as well as a platform for continuously development for their employees. They have provided in-house training also, external trainings based on identified training requirement. To enhance their sales staff’s technical and behaviour skills, CSS training and development teams have implemented island wide program. And they are promoted coaching programmes which helps to create opportunities for further career development. CCS yields employee satisfaction as return on investment from the training and development program (Elephant House, 2024).
Conclusion:
Training and development programs are vital
parts of company success. They empower employees while increase performance,
encourage creativity, and lead to a healthy work environment. Organizations may
achieve long-term success and a sustainable competitive edge by investing in
their workforce's ongoing growth and development.
